Retro Villian of The Week!!

Since it's October, I gotta go with some of the classic villains that made us scared to go to the basement alone or leave our rooms once the lights went off. So for the first week I'll defiantly have to go with my man Freddy K. as this weeks Retro Villain.

Hey Dudes n' Dudettes, I'm back
Sorry about the delay but my mind has been caught up in thoughts not of this earth, I've been pondering some of the biggest questions that plague our society such as why do we have a world team for hockey? I mean unless there's gonna be an intergalactic Olympics going down in the year couple of years its very unnecessary. But I'm back and ready to get to the retro issues once again.

The Glory Days!!

The road to greatness has always been a road travelled by these Gods of retro gaming and current gaming. The journey started in 1989 with the single greatest console of the day, the NES (Nintendo Entertainment System)
This system was the best, the lineup of games that were available for this system was nuts, everything from the classic mario to zelda to punch out, the list goes on and on, remember having to blow inside the cartridge to make the game work hahahahah those were classic memories. The popularity of this system was through the roof, anyone remember that movie "The Wizard" This was nothing more then a long Nintendo commerical but it wasn't all bad, this movie showed people how to find the flute that takes you to the warp zone.The next console in all it glory is......the SNES (Super Nintendo Entertainment System) There's literally nothing bad you could say about this system, til this day I still have mine hooked up to the tv and game on it when i'm bored, remember when they released super mario world 2: Yoshi's Island, This game was just too cool for words, they had thing in the backdrop falling on you, monsters in the background jumping out at you, classic boss battles, like the jello dude that you gotta throw eggs at his heart (Oh, that takes me back) Remember when the console wars started between SEGA and Nintendo??? It's safe to say Nintendo won that war, I mean come on, Sonic vs Mario?? Mario was way cooler, he's a plumber whose a hero on the side with his brother for a sidekick and dinosaur for a pet, Sure beats a stupid blue hedgehog anyday. Shall we move on to the N64 (Nintendo 64) or as it was originally called the Ultra64, The ultra 64 sounds way more badass, shame they had to change the name. But anywho remember the sick graphics on this system and the introduction of some pretty wicked game series like Super Smash Bros, That was epic. Goldeneye, Killer Instinct Gold, Zelda, Clay Fighter, StarFox 64, Super Mario64, Donkey Kong64 (it's funny how they just added 64 at the end of the titles, great originality there Nintendo haha) these are just some of great titles on this system. I think I'll stop at the N64 before my head explodes due to nostalgia overflow.

NINTENDO POWER!!!!

Way before we had Internet and strategy guides the only way to get all our gaming info was through Nintendo Power. This magazine changed the way we looked at games in general, Lord knows if it wasn't for this magazine and that Fred Savage movie "The Wizard" none of us would have known where to get the flute in "Super Mario Bros 3." So today we stand and salute this great magazine that changed the way Nintendo was seen through the eyes of young gamers and teens from the late 80's and through the 90's. Viva La Nintendo!

Where Are They Now???

Today in the where are they know files, we find ourselves talking about "Captain Planet" Alot of us wonder what became of him and the planeteers. here's the story that they don't want you to know."Captain planet he's our hero, he's gonna take pollution down to zero" the words of true wisdom still ring in our ears like bells but once the worlds problem got to much too handle and people found out about his rocking green mallet, they just never wanted him around anyone, poor captain, he now sits alone in an empty office cubical writing up his memoirs of the time he brought 5 children together and helped saved the earth from environmental danger. our hearts go out to him and his many Noble deeds.

Come on, It's a classic. I remember coming home everyday after school and rushing to the TV to see what evils Jason, Billy, Trini, Tommy, Kimberly and Zack were gonna take on, all the episodes were practically all the same but it was pretty cool none the less, Remember when they introduced Tommy as the green ranger?? Now that was an epic moment

Retro Movie Review Of The Week!

This weeks movie is a timeless classic, although it was met with some criticism when it was released because it dealt with some religious themes, but the moment people got over it the religion aspect of the film it became a world wide hit. Two greats minds came together to make one of the greatest movie trilogy's of all time, and these minds were George Lucas and Steven Spielberg, By this time you guys should know the movie by now, if not it's................(Drum roll Please) "Raiders of The Lost Ark". To all those who have seen this great adventure movie about a man named Indiana Jones and his quest to find one of the greatest treasures in history, You know how radical this movie was, and to those who haven't seen it (shame, SHAME) Just kidding, run into your local video store, rent it or buy it. Trust me, you won't be disappointed with this pick, while your there you should also rent the Temple of Doom and Last Crusade as well. This movie has my seal of approval. ENJOY THE MOVIE

Retro Villain Of The Month!!

SHREDDER!!!!! We should all know him by now, he's been the archenemy of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles since the early 80s, for a guy who wears pink or purple sparkly jumpsuits, he sure knows who to strike fear into hearts of men. So to leave you with his most famous words "I Will Finish What I Begun With Your Ear, Aaaaahhhhhhh!!!!!!"

In this weeks marvelous retro review, I have chosen a movie that I just saw recently for the first time in 12 years, this movie was one of best movies of all time when it comes to fantasy, everything about it was awesome, I mean til this day I still think it was a great movie and that movie of course is The Neverending Story

Retro Mans Best Friend

GhettoBlaster, BoomBox, Radio, Music Box. Its all the same thing, I mean this was the hottest accessory of the day besides gold chains of course, everywhere you want you saw dance crews on street corners or chillin on the concrete jungle working on dance routines or just grooving to the beats of simplicity. Those were the days.

Retro Revival!!!!

So in today's random "Retro Revival" I have chosen a group of men who don't realize that synchronized dance moves in your late 30s doesn't make you cool like it did in the 80s, and for that reason I had to go with New Kids On The Block.

Hey don't get me wrong, they had some pretty descent songs back in the day, I mean Step by step and The Right Stuff, these guys knew how to make the girls melt but skip 20 years later, now its just creepy to see grown men in their 30s dancing up on 20 year old girls and doing synchronized dance numbers, just disturbing. NKOTB, you used to be cool once.
